Absolute Bluesers
House-made blueberry curd with cocoa. Topped with more local blueberries and chocolate chips.
PEI cream, PEI maple syrup and fruit bought straight from Island farms — chopped, mixed and rolled onto a freezing plate, one order at a time. Charlottetown, since 2018.
How we roll
We call it rolled ice cream, but this way of making it started in Thailand, where it was known as stir-fried ice cream. Truckin' Roll brought it to PEI in 2018, and by 2019 we were the highest rated food business on the Island on Tripadvisor.
Our base is made fresh in our own kitchen with cream from PEI dairy farmers, and we sweeten it with PEI maple syrup. There are no eggs in it and no refined sugar. Plenty of people can't eat dairy, or choose not to, so there is a completely vegan base made with coconut cream instead.
We pour that base onto a freezing cold plate with fresh fruit, then chop, mix and scrape it for two or three minutes while you watch. Nothing gets whipped, so no air goes in. That is why it comes out this dense and this creamy.
Nothing is made ahead and nothing gets scooped out of a tub. Every cup is built from scratch, one at a time, so when there is a line there is a wait. On a hot afternoon that can be a while. It is the same reason it tastes the way it does.
If a fruit is grown on PEI, we buy it straight from the farm — and we only serve it while it is in season.
You can buy a strawberry any day of the year at the grocery store. Put it beside one picked down the road and it isn't the same thing. That is why some of our best flavours are so short lived. When strawberry season on PEI ends, the strawberry flavours end with it.

Who we buy from
Since 2018 we have stayed with PEI farms and producers, PEI artists and local organisations. Buying a rolled ice cream here is buying from a family business, and from all of these people too.

In the news
CBC came to the truck in August 2026 to meet Kyla Clarkin. She spent two summers rolling ice cream here, then bought Truckin’ Roll and its 1958 truck at nineteen.

Events and catering
Tired of leftover breakfast pastries at the afternoon meeting? We come to you and roll it fresh in front of your guests, and we roll at festivals and markets around the Island.
Ice cream isn't only for kids either. Work days and team things are some of our favourites.
If you see Truckin' Roll staff wheeling a freezer through downtown, somebody's event just got a lot better.

Yes. Most of our flavours come either as PEI dairy or dairy free, using coconut milk. Use the tags on the menu above to see only those.
No. Our dairy ice cream is 100% PEI dairy, and the dairy-free ones are coconut milk and evaporated milk.
When a fruit grows here, we don't import it out of season. Strawberry Cheesecake and Mint To Be only run while PEI strawberries and raspberries are in. Nothing matches fresh local fruit, and we think it is worth the wait.
Because it isn't made until you order it. The ingredients go on the cold plate, get chopped with paddles, then the base goes on and it all gets mixed and scraped while it freezes. We only build one at a time, so on a busy afternoon the line itself can be the longest part of the wait. Watch it, film it, and it will be worth it.
We aim for −18°C. On a really hot day at the truck with sun right on the plates, they only get to −10 or −11. Bear with us on those days.
Yes. Every cup, lid and spoon that leaves the truck is either reusable or compostable.
Don't just take our word for it
“This is the best ice cream place I've ever been to. It's so cool to watch them make it right in front of you and the service is AMAZING. Always looking forward to my next visit!”
Carter W.“This is a dream come true for someone with a dairy allergy. The service was excellent and the ice cream was so rich and delicious. Other family members without food allergies were just as blown away as I was! We'll be back soon.”
Georgia J.“A must have for all who visit Charlottetown — I'll be coming back on my next trip to PEI and I wish this truck all the best!!”
